The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS)
What is it?
By completing some straightforward forms to show how your company complies with health and safety legislation, this scheme will prequalify your company so that you do not have to replicate lots of form filling when applying to work for large employers or if you apply to be added to preferred suppliers lists.
Most commonly requested by councils and large organisations, for a fee your company is "assessed" by a CHAS assessor.
How much does it cost?
If you wish to apply directly to CHAS the fees are:
£115 + VAT (£135.12) - if you employ 5 or more people and complete Appendix 2
£65 + VAT (£76.38) - if you employ fewer than 5 people and complete Appendix 2a
How do you apply?
If you wish to apply direct to CHAS, or you have been told to do so you will need to:

How can RSP Safety help?
We have a 100% success rate when we help our clients apply for CHAS. We will check that your policy is up to date and relevant (or write one for you if you don't have one); we will check that your risk assessments and method statements are `suitable and sufficient'; we will check that your contractors are sufficiently vetted; we will provide your employees with health and safety training.
